ADR-4. Use LiPo battery

Context

As the system will be solar powered, a backup power sources is required. This could be either a battery chemistry or other technology, such as supercapcitor.

The choice will determine how temperature affects the system and how energy will be available. (Amount and throughput)

Decision

The project will use Lithium-Polymer batteries for energy storage.

Consequences

The system must not charge or run in hot/cold temperatures and will require some sort of monitoring of such.

The energy source will be high-density and can be charged and discharged in fast rates. This enables shorter periods of sunlight to keep the system operational.
